[article] Re-broadcast higher ratings, Why?

Starring full-fledged idol stars in KBS 2 drama 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal' and MBC 'Playful Kiss' is attracting attention with its re-broadcasted ratings recorded higher than the original live broadcast.

Though KBS drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal was broadcasted last 30th and stars Micky Yoochun, drama ratings for its 1st and 2nd episode records only 6.3% (according to AGB Nilson Media Research Organization; Nationwide). While during the same timeslot (Mon-Tues, 8.55pm), MBC 'Dongi' and SBS 'Giant' both exceeded the 20% ratings, planting firmly both's position.

However, during the re-broadcast of the 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal' on 4th September, its #1 recorded ratings of 5.3%, while for its #2 recorded 7.1%, which was higher than its actual live broadcast. And this was familiar to the the re-broadcast of 'Baker king Kim Tak Goo' at 7.4%, who has often earned a landslide victory of the TV screens aired on Wednesday, Thursdays.

For MBC drama Playful Kiss that aired its first episode last 1st September, it achieved similar results as well. #1 recorded 3.5%, while #2 recorded 3.7%, yet for its re-broadcast on 4th September, its #1 actually recorded 4.2%, while its #2 recorded 6.6%, which was 2 times the ratings of its original live broadcast.

The reason why Playful Kiss which stars SS501's Kim Hyun Joong did not manage to show its majesty is because of KBS 2TV drama Baker King Kim Tak Goo -- which has a possible persistance to its upcoming 50% ratings. In addition, SBS drama 'My girlfriend is a Gumiho' that stars Lee Seunggi had also exceeded the 10% ratings, which was why there was no way to share that common 'pie' together, and therefore the ratings for Playful Kiss. These are the analyses according to professionals.

Based on this kind of situations, Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Playful Kiss thus received unusual scoresheets where their re-broadcasted ratings are higher than that of their actual broadcast.

Though both of the works star idol stars and has been creating buzzes beginning since its casting stage, but because there were no opponent rivals guarding by each other, both ended up achieving same results.

However, thanks to the re-broadcasts, their ratings managed to rise. There is a possibility that due to the availability of other dramas on weekdays, audiences who were unable to catch Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Playful Kiss now manage to feel the excitement through the re-broadcasts.

Despite that, with Mon-Tues dramas like MBC 'Dongi' and SBS 'Giant', chances for Sungkyunkwan Scandal to bounce back alive doesn't look it will come about easy.

Wed-Thurs drama Playful Kiss will also be leading a tough fight right till the end. Whether Baker King Kim Tak Goo be extended, or should its follow-up drama 'Escaper' starring Rain-Lee NaYoung record high ratings beginning from the start, possibility for Playful Kiss' revival does not seem high.

To know if both 'Sungkyunkwan scandal' and 'Playful Kiss' which has higher ratings with its re-broadcasts will be able to captivate audiences' attention or not, everyone is highly curious.
